This course will assist you in understanding how the remuneration relating to work done outside SA will be taxed inside SA. Please note, residence as defined in the Income Tax Act is not the same as you would find outside of tax i.e. the Home Affairs definition. It can become quite tricky to understand whether you qualify for the exemption if you have the resident definition wrong. People tend to think that because they are working for long periods outside SA that they are now classified as a non-resident. This is not always the case.

This course will give you a firm understanding of the foreign employment tax exemption (or as some call this piece of legislation – ex-pat tax). It will also teach what documents need to be kept and how to calculate the number of days required for the exemption to be applicable.
